Grief changes us. Sometimes it arrives suddenly through the death of someone we love. Sometimes it comes through transitions, illness, caregiving, or the loss of community and identity. Yet throughout Black history, healing has rarely been an individual act.

African American Herbalism introduces readers to a living tradition of plant knowledge, ancestral healing, and community wellness rooted in resilience and cultural memory. Good Grief, Pass the Bread, Mom Is Dead offers a deeply personal, humorous, and honest account of losing a parent while discovering how family, food, and storytelling help us continue living.

This evening brings these two perspectives into conversation—not to offer simple answers to grief, but to explore how healing happens over time through rituals, nourishment, ancestral knowledge, laughter, storytelling, and community care.

Participants will hear from both authors, engage in a moderated discussion, ask questions, and leave with practical ideas for cultivating healing in everyday life.

Tickets on Eventbrite.

Books will be available for purchase and signing following the program.
