  • Every item is intentionally selected. We prioritize Black authors, chefs, farmers, scholars, and makers whose work strengthens our connection to food, history, and community—especially those rooted in African and diasporic traditions. As proud Southern, Black women, we try to source books and brands representing the Southeast when possible.

  • Yes! We ship nationwide. We also host and attend pop-ups, community markets, and in-person events throughout the year.

  • Absolutely. We collaborate with authors, artisans, and food-makers, especially those who are from the African Diaspora (Black-, immigrant-, and women-led, primarily but exclusively).

    If you are an independent author, please ensure you have an ISBN number and wholesale purchase options. While we prioritize those with Black food writing (food, farms, gardens, etc.), we do support those with other topics on occassion.

  • We don’t have a permanent brick-and-mortar space—but we’re very much rooted in community.

    Red Rice Books hosts events through pop-ups, partnerships, and shared spaces with community organizations, libraries, churches, restaurants, and cultural venues. Past spaces have included pizzerias, bars, libraries, farms, gardens, and community centers. This model allows us to bring books, food, and conversation directly to the people—wherever community already gathers.

  • Yes. Red Rice Books partners with community organizations, schools, and collectives to raise funds, share resources, and support causes rooted in food justice, education, and Black liberation. We collaborate on book drives, shared giving campaigns, and community-centered fundraisers—believing that we go further when we raise money together.


    We have the capacity to make book or monetary donations, and to create fundraising pages through our website.
